ABOUT BOSTON'S CHARLESTOWN

Charlestown is perhaps best known for its two major tourist attractions: the USS Constitution on the water front and Bunker Hill in the downtown. Sprinkled among and between them are restored federal Creek archival and Victorian houses as well as contemporaries. The cobblestoned avenues and tree-lined streets create the setting for an exciting city.

Charlestown was first settled in 1628 (prior to Boston), and was the Massachusetts Bay Colony's first seat in government. Charlestown became part of Boston in 1874.
