APARTMENTMAN: Sitting at his desk APARTMENTMAN decides that he has slaved long enough in the drudgery of Post Doc University overlooking the Charles, and decides to go on a trip to the future by traveling faster than the speed of light. Something he learned from Superman years ago. Uttering his ultra secret transformation words A-MAN finds himself in his green travel garb rocketing into the future in search of adventure. Something he has failed to find bending over the same glass beakers every day in "Post Doc U". As he decides to exit time travel mode he suddenly he finds himself deposited in the year 2200 in the midst of huge blocks of stone forming a circle with large clocks of stone in the middle. As an ongoing student he smugly decides that he must have been dropped in the age old site of Stonehenge known to all who were forced to take archeology 101. And yet, upon closer inspection, he realizes that it is not Stonehenge. The blocks of stone- like material are huge but they have a shape that reminds A-Man of something else that he cannot reclaim in the deep recesses of his college indoctrinated mind. What is it What are these primitive blocks and why do they seem to spur his mind into wishing for a camera while making his fingers peck like a chicken at a keyboard The mystery deepens as he walks around the towering blocks. Suddenly, as he leans against one of the towering edifices, flashes of color suddenly erupt across the face of the obelisk. He recoils in fear as simultaneously all of the blocks suddenly come alive with photographs of humans, trips to Europe, and the occasional text message forwarded to parents across the world. He cannot stop himself as he falls down onto his knees and assumes the position of a supplicant before an alter of modernity. Towering over, and around him, stand 8 separate shrines rising 55 feet high and 30 feet across. They are all flashing photos and texts and commanding his offerings at the alter of JOB. He shudders in awe as he finds himself standing at the center of I-Henge, awaiting the next command from Cupertino. As he bows his head, he dreams of a simple time when phones were successfully used for phone calls, cars were used for driving, and keyboards were designed for fingers. He genuflects and slowly rises walking slowly toward the I-Henge alter. Suddenly, a drawer opens and a voice issues from the Bose Speaker system which he now notices rests atop each of the flashing icons. "Leave your offering in the drawer before you, " comes the command. He reaches into his pocket, withdraws his titanium plastic card and presents it to the icon before him. In a second his numbers are scanned, his account is emptied and he succeeds in leaving his $2000.00 offering at the I-Henge oracle. The drawer closes, he genuflects one last time, and in a flash travels in time back to his Post Doc cubicle. He must now begin his search for a new apartment to house his collection of travel photos to be shared with any and all who can navigate the touch screen of modernity.........
