7. Where can I find fully furnished apartments near Boston?

J.E. Furnished Apartments offers fully furnished apartments in Waltham and Quincy, Massachusetts, giving you two convenient locations in the Greater Boston area. Waltham is west of Boston, while Quincy is approximately seven miles south of the city.

Tell our Rental Managers where you'll be working, studying, receiving medical care, or spending most of your time, and we'll help you determine which location makes the most sense.

8. Can I rent a furnished apartment month-to-month near Boston?

Yes. J.E. apartments are rented on a month-to-month tenancy-at-will basis, giving you greater flexibility than a traditional fixed-term or one-year lease. Under our rental agreement, a 30-day written notice to vacate is required, so you don't need to determine your exact departure date when you move in.

Whether you're relocating, working in the area temporarily, renovating your home, between homes, experiencing a change in living arrangements, or simply need temporary housing, our Rental Managers can help arrange an apartment and move-in date that work for your situation.

9. What's included in the rent for a fully furnished apartment?

Quite a lot. Your J.E. apartment includes furnishings, linens and towels, utilities, cable TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, air conditioning, free parking, and complimentary membership to a local full-service health club.

Apartments also feature fully equipped kitchens with full-size appliances, cookware, dishes and everyday kitchen essentials, and laundry facilities are conveniently located in the buildings.

With so much already included, there are fewer services to arrange and fewer separate expenses to manage—one of the reasons J.E. works particularly well for extended stays.

10. Do I need to bring anything, or is everything provided?

J.E. apartments are fully furnished and move-in ready, with linens, towels, a fully equipped kitchen, utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, air conditioning and free parking included.

Bring Your Clothes and Leave the Rest to Us.

11. What types and sizes of furnished apartments are available?

J.E. offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom furnished apartments at our Waltham and Quincy locations. Floor plans, sizes and individual apartment features vary, so tell your Rental Manager what you need and we'll help identify the best available option.

12. What's the difference between a J.E. furnished apartment and an extended-stay hotel?

The biggest difference is simple: a hotel is designed for visiting; a J.E. apartment is designed for living.

With J.E., you have a private residential apartment with a full-size, fully equipped kitchen, normal living and storage space, a residential address, free on-site parking, and the privacy and consistency of an established apartment community. You have the consistency of a residential apartment community rather than the daily guest turnover of a hotel.

For a stay of several weeks or months, those differences can make temporary housing feel much more like home.

13. How does the total cost of a J.E. furnished apartment compare with an extended-stay hotel?

Don't compare only the advertised room rate. Massachusetts hotels are generally subject to state and local room occupancy taxes for stays of 90 days or less. J.E.'s month-to-month tenancies-at-will are exempt from the Massachusetts room occupancy excise.

J.E. also includes free on-site parking, utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, a fully equipped kitchen, and complimentary membership to a local full-service health club. Having a real kitchen can also significantly reduce the cost of relying on restaurants and takeout during a longer stay.

When you're staying for several weeks or months, compare what you'll actually spend—and what you'll actually be living in.

14. What's the difference between a J.E. furnished apartment and an Airbnb for an extended stay?

For a stay of several weeks or several months, one of the biggest differences is flexibility and certainty. With J.E., you're not simply booking an individual property for predetermined dates—you have a professionally managed, month-to-month home with an established company behind it.

Temporary housing shouldn't require you to know exactly when your temporary situation will end. J.E.'s month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement gives you flexibility when a renovation runs late, a closing date changes, a work schedule shifts, or life simply doesn't go according to plan.

There's also strength in numbers. J.E. owns and manages nearly 120 furnished apartments across Waltham and Quincy, giving our Rental Managers additional options that may be available if circumstances change unexpectedly.

And throughout your stay, you're dealing directly with the company that owns and manages your apartment. Our experienced Rental Managers and maintenance team are here when you need us, including 24/7 emergency maintenance.

For a vacation, Airbnb may make sense. For a place you're going to call home for the next several months, J.E. offers something different: flexibility, options, and people you can count on.

15. Why choose a J.E. furnished apartment instead of an Airbnb for a multi-month stay?

When you're staying somewhere for several months, you're no longer just looking for a place to sleep—you're choosing a place to live.

J.E. apartments are set up for everyday residential living, with a fully equipped kitchen, normal living and storage space, free on-site parking, laundry facilities, linens and towels, utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi and cable TV, plus complimentary membership to a local full-service health club.

You also don't have to sort through individual listings trying to determine what's included or who you'll be dealing with. Tell one of our Rental Managers what you need, where you need to be, and your approximate dates, and we'll help you find the best available option within our Waltham or Quincy communities.

For a multi-month stay, the difference is simple: you aren't looking for vacation accommodations. You're looking for a temporary home. That's what J.E. provides.

16. Why choose a J.E. furnished apartment instead of a traditional apartment or sublet?

A traditional apartment can mean signing a long-term lease, furnishing the space, setting up utilities and Wi-Fi, and then dealing with all of it again when you leave. A sublet may offer more flexibility, but you're generally moving into someone else's leased home and accepting the furnishings, terms and arrangements that come with it.

J.E. is designed specifically for temporary living without all the setup. Your apartment is furnished and move-in ready, with linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, free parking and other amenities already in place.

And because J.E. uses a month-to-month tenancy-at-will agreement with a 30-day written notice to vacate under our rental agreement, you get the flexibility of temporary housing without having to predict exactly when you'll be ready to move on.

Move in, live normally, and when your situation changes, move forward—without having to build and dismantle another household along the way.

17. Can I rent a furnished apartment without signing a one-year lease?

Absolutely. J.E. is designed for people who need a home for longer than a short hotel stay but don't want to commit to a traditional one-year lease.

Our apartments are rented month-to-month under a tenancy-at-will agreement, giving you the flexibility to stay while you need us and move on when you're ready. Under our rental agreement, a 30-day written notice to vacate is required.

If you don't know exactly how long you'll need housing, that's perfectly fine. Tell us what you know about your situation and your dates, and our Rental Managers will help you determine what can work.

18. What should I compare when choosing a furnished apartment near Boston?

Start with more than the advertised monthly rent. For a stay lasting several weeks or months, compare the true total cost, what's actually included, rental flexibility, location, and who will be responsible for your housing after you move in.

Look closely for additional charges such as booking or service fees, administrative fees, parking charges, utility charges, cleaning fees and other add-ons. Also ask what's included, how flexible the rental terms are, what happens if your departure date changes, and who you'll call if something needs attention.

At J.E., we own and manage our apartment communities ourselves, and we don't charge broker, booking, administrative, resort or service fees. Utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, free parking and complimentary membership to a local full-service health club are included.

The right temporary housing isn't simply the lowest advertised rate. Compare what you'll actually pay, what you'll actually receive, and who will be there for you after you move in.

19. Where can I stay while my home is being renovated or repaired?

A J.E. furnished apartment gives you a comfortable, move-in-ready home while yours is under construction or being repaired. Furniture, linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, utilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV and free parking are already provided, so you don't have to set up—and later dismantle—another household.

Just as importantly, renovation and construction schedules change. Our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement gives you flexibility if your project finishes earlier or takes longer than expected, rather than forcing you to predict an exact completion date months in advance.

Tell our Rental Manager what you're renovating, when you expect to need housing, and approximately how long you expect to be out of your home. We'll help you find an apartment that lets you live normally while the contractors do their work.

20. Can I rent a furnished apartment while house-hunting, waiting to close, or between homes?

Yes. J.E. provides a ready-to-live-in home between homes while you're searching for a new house, waiting for a closing, completing new construction, or coordinating the sale and purchase of two properties.

Instead of moving your belongings twice or setting up another household, you can settle into a fully furnished apartment with the essentials already provided while keeping the rest of your belongings in storage.

And because real-estate dates have a habit of moving, our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement gives you flexibility if a closing is delayed, construction runs long, or you simply need more time to find the right home.

Focus on finding your permanent home. We'll help take care of the one you need in between.

21. Where can I live temporarily during a separation or divorce?

When living arrangements change unexpectedly, a J.E. furnished apartment can provide a private, comfortable place to call home while you decide what comes next.

Your apartment is furnished and move-in ready, so there's no need to buy furniture, establish utilities, or commit to a traditional one-year lease. And with our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement, you have flexibility when you may not yet know how long you'll need your temporary home.

Our Rental Managers understand that some housing needs are personal and time-sensitive. Tell us the dates and apartment size you need, and we'll make the process as straightforward and discreet as possible.

22. Are furnished apartments a good option for families needing temporary housing?

Yes. When a family needs temporary housing, having an actual home rather than simply a place to stay can make a significant difference.

J.E. offers furnished studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens, linens and towels, utilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV, free parking and laundry facilities in the building. Families can cook meals, maintain normal routines and settle in while dealing with a relocation, home renovation, insurance repair, home purchase or other transition.

And because plans involving homes and families don't always follow a perfect schedule, our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement provides valuable flexibility.

Tell our Rental Manager who's coming with you and what your family needs. We'll help you find the apartment and location that make temporary living feel as normal as possible.

23. Do you provide corporate housing near Boston?

Yes. J.E. provides fully furnished corporate housing in Waltham and Quincy for relocating employees, consultants, project teams, visiting executives and other professionals working temporarily in the Greater Boston area.

We make the housing side of an assignment simple: apartments are move-in ready, utilities and many everyday expenses are already included, companies can be billed directly, and our Rental Managers work directly with both employers and employees when needed.

With 118 apartments across two Greater Boston locations, we also have the flexibility to help companies accommodate different employees, dates and housing needs rather than relying on a single available unit.

Tell us where your employee needs to be and for how long. We'll help handle the housing so they can concentrate on why they're here.

24. Do you provide furnished apartments for employee relocation?

Yes. Relocating for a new job doesn't mean you need to choose your permanent home before you've had a chance to learn the area. A J.E. furnished apartment gives you a comfortable place to live while you start your new position, explore neighborhoods, and decide where you ultimately want to settle.

Everything is ready when you arrive—furniture, linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, utilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV and free parking—so you can avoid moving twice or rushing into a long-term housing decision.

Our Rental Managers can work directly with you, your employer, or your relocation company, and our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement provides flexibility if your permanent housing takes more or less time than expected.

Start the new job first. Give yourself time to figure out the permanent address.

25. Can my employer or company rent and pay for my apartment?

Yes. J.E. can work directly with your employer and bill the company, so you don't necessarily have to pay the housing expense yourself and wait for reimbursement.

Our Rental Managers can coordinate with the appropriate company contact, provide monthly billing, and help keep the housing arrangement straightforward for both the company and employee.

We also work with relocation companies and other organizations arranging temporary housing, so if your company has its own process or housing coordinator, have them contact us directly.

One less expense report. One less part of the relocation for you to manage.

26. Do you provide temporary housing for insurance claims and displaced families?

Yes. J.E. provides fully furnished temporary housing for individuals and families displaced from their homes by fire, water damage, storm damage, or other covered losses and repairs.

When you're already dealing with damage to your home, temporary housing shouldn't become another problem to solve. Our apartments are move-in ready with furniture, linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, utilities, Wi-Fi, cable TV, free parking and other everyday necessities already in place.

J.E. can also work directly with insurance companies, adjusters, housing coordinators and temporary-housing providers to help simplify placement and billing.

And because repair and restoration timelines can change, our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement provides valuable flexibility if you need your temporary home longer than originally expected.

Concentrate on getting your home back. We'll help make sure you have a home in the meantime.

27. Can homeowners insurance pay for a furnished apartment while my home is being repaired?

Yes, depending on your policy and the circumstances of your claim. Many homeowners and renters insurance policies include Additional Living Expense (ALE) or similar coverage that may help pay for temporary housing when a covered loss makes your home uninhabitable.

Coverage, limits and approval requirements vary, so confirm your benefits with your insurance company or adjuster. Once temporary housing is approved, J.E. can work with you, your adjuster, insurance company, or housing coordinator to help make the placement and billing process as straightforward as possible.

And if you're not sure what information your insurer will need from us, have them contact J.E. directly—we'll help with the housing side of the process.

28. Do you provide furnished apartments for traveling nurses, healthcare professionals, and other temporary workers?

Yes. J.E. provides fully furnished apartments for traveling nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals, consultants, government personnel, contractors, and others working temporarily in the Greater Boston area.

With locations in Waltham and Quincy, our Rental Managers can help you choose the location that makes the most sense for your hospital, medical facility, workplace, or project. Your apartment is move-in ready, with utilities, Wi-Fi, free parking, a fully equipped kitchen and other everyday necessities already taken care of.

For traveling nurses and other healthcare professionals who may be living alone, arriving from out of state, or working unusual hours, knowing who manages your temporary home can be especially important. J.E. owns and manages our apartment communities, with local Rental Managers, an experienced maintenance team, and 24/7 emergency maintenance available when needed.

And because temporary assignments can be extended or schedules can change, our month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement gives you flexibility beyond your initial plans.

Tell us where you'll be working and when you need to be there. We'll help you find a temporary home that makes the rest of your commute—and your stay—easier.

29. Do you provide furnished apartments for visiting faculty, university professionals, researchers, and fellows?

Yes. J.E. provides fully furnished temporary housing for visiting faculty, researchers, fellows, university employees, and other academic professionals who need a comfortable home for a semester, research project, fellowship, sabbatical, or temporary appointment.

Our Waltham apartments are particularly convenient for the Bentley University and Brandeis University area, while our Rental Managers can help determine which J.E. location makes the most sense based on where you'll be working or studying.

With a move-in-ready apartment and month-to-month tenancy-at-will flexibility, you don't need to furnish an apartment or commit to a traditional one-year lease for an academic stay.

Tell us your university, dates, and housing needs. We'll help you spend less time arranging housing and more time focusing on why you're here.

30. What is the minimum stay at J.E. Furnished Apartments?

Our standard minimum stay is six weeks, with exceptions available based on your circumstances, requested dates, and apartment availability.

If your housing need doesn't fit neatly into a standard rental period, contact us anyway. With nearly 120 furnished apartments across our Waltham and Quincy locations, our Rental Managers have the flexibility to review your dates and determine what options may be available. Whether your dates fall a little short of our standard minimum, extend for several months, or you're simply not sure how long you'll need housing, it's worth talking with us before assuming your dates won't work.

31. Can I extend my stay if my plans change?

Yes. One of the advantages of J.E.'s month-to-month tenancy-at-will arrangement is that you don't have to know your exact departure date when you first move in.

Renovations run late, insurance repairs take longer than expected, home closings move, temporary work schedules get extended, and sometimes plans simply change. Under our rental agreement, a 30-day written notice to vacate is required, giving you flexibility as your situation develops.

And because J.E. owns and manages 118 apartments across Waltham and Quincy, our Rental Managers may have additional options if your circumstances change unexpectedly.

Temporary housing should be flexible enough to change when your plans do.

32. Can my furnished apartment rental begin or end in the middle of the month?

Yes. Your housing dates don't have to fit neatly into a calendar month. J.E. can accommodate mid-month and other nonstandard move-in and move-out dates based on apartment availability and scheduling.

With 118 apartments across Waltham and Quincy, we have flexibility to look at what may work around your schedule. And because your apartment is already furnished and move-in ready, once the right apartment and dates come together, we can make the move-in process quick and straightforward.

Tell us the dates you actually need. We'll do our best to make the housing fit your schedule—not the other way around.

33. Are J.E. Furnished Apartments pet-friendly?

Yes. We know that when you need temporary housing, your pet is part of the move too. J.E. welcomes approved pets at our furnished apartments, subject to our pet guidelines.

Let your Rental Manager know about your pet when you contact us. We'll walk you through the requirements and help identify available apartments that can accommodate both you and your pet.

Finding the right temporary home can be more challenging when you're bringing a pet. At J.E., we'll help make that part of your move easier.

34. Are there broker fees or other added rental fees?

One of the advantages of renting directly from J.E. is fewer added costs to worry about. We do not charge broker fees, booking fees, administrative fees, resort fees, or service fees.

Free on-site parking is included, along with utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, and complimentary membership to a local full-service health club—items that can sometimes add significantly to the cost of temporary accommodations.

An application fee may apply, and certain optional services or charges related to your individual rental may be additional. Your Rental Manager can explain these before you rent so you understand what's included.

When comparing temporary housing, compare the final cost—not just the price that first gets your attention.

35. How much does a J.E. furnished apartment cost?

Current rental rates vary based on apartment size, location, your dates, length of stay, and availability. Contact our Waltham or Quincy Rental Manager with what you need, and we'll provide current options and pricing.

When comparing rates, remember that the J.E. price includes much more than the apartment itself: furnishings, utilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, free on-site parking, linens and towels, a fully equipped kitchen, and complimentary membership to a local full-service health club are all part of your stay.

That means fewer separate bills, fewer added expenses, and fewer things to arrange before moving in.

Give us your dates and what you're looking for. We'll help you determine the options—and the true cost—before you make your decision.

36. How am I billed, and what payment methods do you accept?

Rent is billed monthly and due on the first of each month. J.E. accepts ACH/bank payments, checks, cash, and all major credit cards, giving you several ways to pay.

For added convenience, payments can be made through our online resident portal, where you can view your account and set up automatic recurring payments—particularly helpful when you're staying for several months and don't want another monthly task to remember.

For corporate housing, J.E. can also arrange direct company billing, making payment easier for both the employee and employer.

Whether you're paying personally or your company is handling the bill, we'll help make the process straightforward.

37. How do I check availability and reserve a furnished apartment?

Availability can change quickly, so the best place to start is by contacting the Rental Manager at your preferred Waltham or Quincy location. Let us know your desired move-in date, approximate length of stay, and the apartment size you're looking for.

Reserving an apartment is easy. Our Rental Manager will review current availability, discuss the best options for your needs, and walk you through the next steps.

If you're not sure which location, apartment size, or exact dates will work best, that's fine too. With 118 apartments across our two locations, we may be able to suggest options you hadn't considered.

If you know you'll need temporary housing, contact us early. The right apartment may be available today even if your move-in date is still weeks away.

38. Can I see photos or tour an apartment before reserving?

Yes. In-person tours are welcome, and photos and floor plans are available on our website to give you a good sense of our apartments and communities before making a decision.

We also understand that many of our renters are coming to Massachusetts from another state or country and may not be able to tour in person. Our Rental Managers know the apartments and communities well and can discuss available options, answer detailed questions, and help you understand what to expect before you arrive.

If you're able to visit, we'll be happy to show you around. If you can't, don't let that stop you from contacting us—we're accustomed to helping renters arrange their housing from a distance.

39. What's the difference between the Waltham and Quincy furnished apartment locations?

Both J.E. locations offer the same advantages of fully furnished, move-in-ready apartments, flexible month-to-month tenancy, included utilities and amenities, and direct J.E. management. The biggest difference is where you need to be.

Our Waltham furnished apartments are west of Boston, convenient to the Route 128/I-95 business corridor, Bentley University, Brandeis University, and employment and medical destinations throughout the western Boston suburbs.

Our Quincy furnished apartments are south of Boston, offering convenient access to Boston, the South Shore, major employment centers, hospitals, and surrounding communities.

Not sure which is better for you? Tell our Rental Manager where you'll be working, studying, receiving medical care, or spending most of your time, and we'll help you choose the location that makes your stay easier.

40. What should I consider when choosing temporary housing when traveling alone?

When you're relocating or traveling alone, it's important to know more than what an apartment looks like online. Consider who owns and manages the property, who you'll contact if you need assistance, parking and building access, the surrounding area, and whether help is available outside normal business hours.

J.E. owns and manages our Waltham and Quincy apartment communities, with local Rental Managers, an experienced long-term staff, and 24/7 emergency maintenance. If you're arranging your housing from a distance, our Rental Managers can also answer questions about the property and surrounding area before you make your decision.

If something about a location or apartment is important to your comfort, ask us. We want you to feel confident about where you'll be living before you arrive.

41. Why choose J.E. Furnished Apartments?

J.E. has been family operated since 1968. Today, we own and manage 118 furnished apartments in Waltham and Quincy, have served thousands of renters, and our experienced employees have been with J.E. for an average of more than 20 years.

That experience shows in how we take care of our renters. You work directly with knowledgeable local Rental Managers, maintenance requests are handled promptly by our experienced team, and 24/7 emergency maintenance is available when something can't wait.

But perhaps the biggest J.E. advantage is flexibility. With 118 apartments, two Greater Boston locations, month-to-month tenancy-at-will agreements, and Rental Managers who work directly with our renters, we have options when dates change, plans run late, or something unexpected happens.

We also try to make temporary living simple: your apartment is furnished and move-in ready, with many of the everyday necessities and expenses already taken care of.

For more than 50 years, our business has been providing people with a comfortable place to call home when they need one. Tell us what brings you here, and let us see how we can help.
